Oh Boy! Mickey Mouse, the Walt Disney Company's longtime mascot, first debuted in the classic animated short, Steamboat Willie, co-created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks in 1928. Mickey Mouse continued to appear in shorts the following year, featuring in 12 new animations that established much of the Mickey we recognize today. We get an appearance from Minnie Mouse in When The Cat's Away, Mickey speaking his first words in the The Karnival Kid and Disney Animation beginning the Silly Symphonies short-film series with The Skeleton Dance and Hell's Bells. All of these works, published in 1929, are in the public domain–making them free to use, enjoy and free of any copyright laws. Enjoy the early days of Mickey and friends, all publicly available on the Internet Archive today. -The Internet Archive Team |
